Novice to 10th Kyu (White Belt to Red and White Belt)

Timeframe:

12 weeks training time, minimum 16 points accrued
 

General Requirements:

Students should show a good quality of stance, speed and power. Kata and any techniques demonstrated should be performed without mistakes and must be delivered with proper timing, continuation and kime (focus of power and energy).

 

Kihon (Basics)

1. Gedan Barai (downward block) x 3 stepping forward, Mawatte (turn)

2. Oi Zuki (stepping punch) x 3 stepping forward, Mawatte (turn)

3. Age Uke (rising block) x 3 stepping forward, Mawatte (turn)

4. Soto Uke (outside block) x 3 stepping forward, Mawatte (turn)

5. Mae Geri (front kick) x 3 stepping forward, Yame (stop / finish)

6. Yoko Geri Kiage (side snap kick) in Kiba Dachi (side stance) x 3, Mawatte (turn) and repeat in opposite direction DACHI  Stance demonstration

7. SHOMEN NI  Full body facing (Natural stance)  

8. HANMI  Half body ( forward & back both sides)

9. ZEN  Front stance (forward & back both sides)

10. KIBA  Side body  (forward & back both sides)

 

Kata (Form)

Kihon Kata 
Taikyoku Shodan (Basic form) Halfway only. No count.

 

Kumite (Sparring) 

With partner from Yoi Dachi (natural stance)
Jodan (head)  Chudan (stomach) level offence and defence.
